The Montreal Canadiens prospect who's their most NHL ready offensive defencemen took to the ice two days ago for the first time since spraining a ligament in his left knee during a pre-season game against Pittsburgh back on September 17th. Although he's not expected to play for another week or two, Carle is slightly ahead of schedule which is great news for Hab fans.
As one of the only right-handed shots on defence in the entire system, Carle has all the tools to eventually play opposite Roman Hamrlik on the second pairing in Montreal. At 6'00 and 207 lbs he's got the size to compliment strong offensive instincts, solid skating and strong puck-handling ability. A year in Hamilton will go a long way towards improving his defensive play and consistancy but his willingness to get his nose dirty and block shots will be welcome in Montreal.
